Electrodeposition of Copper and Brass Coatings with Olive-Like Structure

One method of creating a brass coating is through electrodeposition, which most often completed in cyanide galvanic baths. Due to their toxicity, many investigations focused on the development more environmentally friendly alternatives. The purpose study was explore new generation non-aqueous cyanide-free baths based 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate ionic liquids. involved formation copper, zinc, and coatings. influence bath composition, cathodic current density, temperature determined. obtained coatings were characterized terms morphology, chemical phase roughness, corrosion resistance. It found that structure strongly dependent process parameters. three main types observed as follows: fine-grained, porous, olive-like. To best knowledge authors, it first time olive-like case an electrodeposited coating. Cu-Zn consisted 19–96 at. % copper exhibited relatively good A significant improvement properties with structure.
